Garmin GPS Running Watch

Garmin is one of the best known manufacturers of GPS systems and was among the first companies offering GPS devices for runners. The company launched series of GPS running watches called the Forerunner in the 2000’s. There are several models of Foreruner watches most of which include the GPS receiver as well as upload of training data to personal computer and software. The prices of the Garmin Forerunner featuring GPS models range from $114 for the Forerunner 101 model to $400 for the Forerunner 405CX model.

The Garmin Forerunner 101 is a classical sports watch which is ideal for professional runners and athletes as well as for recreational runners. Besides GPS receiver it also includes a wide range of special features which measure pace, distance, speed and calories burned. It also features the Virtual Partner - Forerunner’s training tool which helps you to achieve your running goals. You simply enter the distance and pace you want to maintain during your running session and the Virtual Partner will display both your goal pace and your current pace so you can easily track whether your are falling behind your goal pace. However, keep in mind that Forerunner 101 does not enable of upload of training data to your personal computer and software.

The most expensive of all Forerunner models is the Forerunner 405CX which besides the standard features and heart rate tracking includes wireless sending of training data to your personal computer and variety of other features which meet the demands of “more serious” runners.
